Research notes (unverified)
  1. Apple T2 chip. The SSD controller, audio, FaceTime camera, ambient light sensor, Touch Bar, keyboard and trackpad are reached through the T2 bridge (apple-bce binds on real Linux machines).
  2. Booting a non-Apple OS requires Startup Security Utility (in Recovery) set to "No Security" and "Allow booting from external or removable media". The Broadcom Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip needs Apple's firmware files.
  3. Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports only, plus a headphone jack. Touch Bar and Touch ID on every model.
  4. Build-to-order 15-inch with a discrete AMD Radeon Pro Vega 16 or Vega 20 (Vega 12, 1002:69af, amdgpu) alongside Intel UHD Graphics 630. Apple files it under the same 2018/2019 15-inch releases as MacBookPro15,1.
  5. OpenCore also lists the Radeon Pro 555X/560X for this identifier; every observed machine (4) has the Vega GPU, as EveryMac lists.
