Research notes (unverified)
  1. 64-bit Core 2 Duo CPU with 32-bit EFI firmware, so the stock x86_64 installer is not expected to boot without a 32-bit EFI boot shim.
  2. EveryMac lists "EFI Architecture: 64-Bit", but community 32-bit-EFI lists include this model and Linux dmesg shows the same firmware
  3. table layout as the 32-bit-EFI MacBook2,1. Recorded as 32-bit (reviewed 2026-09-30); a boot test will confirm.
  4. Intel GMA 950 graphics: expect a basic i915 framebuffer but no modern OpenGL, so Hyprland will likely fall back to software rendering.
  5. 4 Linux boots report Macmini1,1's board ID (Mac-F4208EC8) with a Macmini2,1 identity, typically a Macmini1,1 upgraded with a Core 2 Duo and flashed firmware.
  6. Macmini2,1 is the Macmini1,1 platform with a Merom Core 2 Duo; every other component observed on real machines is identical.
